As a builder or contractor you are probably used to working with
a lighting designer. Your needs are unique, however, since the "buck"
stops with you. All parties look to you to formulate a budget for the project
and you are the one depended on to meet the constraints of both budget
and time-frame.
A set of clear, concise documentation that includes preliminary budgeting
helps to set the initial expectations early in a project. Designs and drawings
based on practical field experience are critical to your ability to adhere to the cost
estimate and the time-line you are promising. It is imperative that we, as lighting
professionals listen to the needs of the clients, to be sure, but then secure lighting
equipment that is made up of products that are of good quality, are easily installed,
are readily available and well-documented and supported.
It is the intent of David Wilds Patton Lighting Design to never be the
slow cog in the machine of any project. The documentation provided is based,
partly, on what we would like to have if we were in the field installing the design.
Timely response to RFI's and an open atmosphere of collaboration is imperative
and desirable so that everyone can accomplish their task and do it with a sense
of comraderie and pride in our work.
