Lighting and its application in architecture, whether it be Interiors or Landscape;
Retail or the Workplace affects each of us physiologically and emotionally
as we move through and use those spaces, even when we are not aware of it.
We strive as designers to use the knowledge we have accumulated to provide
our clients with environments that are made more positive and comfortable
by the techniques we use. This means, of course, that we must attain and apply
a high level of analytical insight and technical skills to what is essentially an
art form. We can and do, literally, "paint" our surroundings with light, bringing
the illuminated environment out of the darkness.

We are fortunate as designers in this day and age, to have an amazing variety
of tools to work with. I feel fortunate, personally, to have had extensive,
"hands on" experience actually installing lighting fixtures and lighting control systems.
I have been afforded the opportunity to work with many talented individuals.
This allows me to temper my creative and artistic instincts with a level of
practicality that benefits all members of the process, whether it is the Owner,
the Architect or the Contractor.

Technology in lighting is moving very rapidly in areas of energy efficiency,
in lamp and light source technologies, in new and creative fixture manufacturing,
and in the area of lighting controls. It is necessary for the responsible designer
to continually strive towards attaining new knowledge and to be current.
It is here that I feel quite at home, as my excitement about my craft constantly
propels me into new areas. As we move past the concept of the simple
 incandescent light bulb, turned on and off by a wall switch, we are presented
with a vast array of alternatives that can serve as the palette for our creative
process. I am excited to work among these alternatives in practical, creative
ways to to give my clients the best of what is available. Ideally, we will create
lighting environs that look and feel dramatic, while adding to our feeling of
general well-being and satisfaction.
